HUTTON, PUBLIC WORKS DtRECTOR � SUBJECT: RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENTS (2) TO THE FULL-TIME POSITION OF MAINTENANCE WORKER I IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, PARKS DIVISION DATE: DECEMBER 17, 1998 BACKGROUND: There are two (2) positions, (Maintenance Worker III and Maintenance Worker II), that are currently vacant that will be under-filled by two (2� Maintenance Worker I's. Attached is the job description for the classification. Salary Range for a Maintenance Worker III is $2,137. - $2,598., salary range for a Maintenance Worker II is $1,877. -$2,283., and the salary range for a Maintenance Worker I is $1,788. -$2,174. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: These positions became vacant when the incumbents accepted promotional appointments to the Electric and Stormwater Divisions. Recruitment for said position was conducted and an eligibility list established. The candidates being referred for Council ratification meet all the requirements as specified in the job description. FINANCIAL IMPACT: These are approved general fund positions in the Fiscal Year 1998/99 budget, funded as follows: Account No. 100-6150-6153-1010 (Salary-miscellaneous) and Account No. 100-6150- 6153-1100 (salary related benefits). Under-filling these positions will result in an annual salary savings a proximat ly $14,976. C � oh C. EXPECTED FILL DATE: January 18, 1999 RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that Council ratify the employee appointments (2) to the full-time positions of Maintenance Worker I in the Public Works Department.
