CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For City Council Meeting of July 20, 1999 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL <br />APPROVAL: Henry T. Garcia, City Manager <br />FROM: Patrick G. Crowe, Chief of Polic <br />SUBJECT: Request for recruitment and ratification of employee appointment to the full <br />time position of Police Sergeant in the Police Department <br />DATE: June 23, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND: There is one (1) vacant Police Sergeant position in the Police Department. <br />Attached is the job description for the classification: salary range is $4,270.00 to $5,190.00 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Recruitment for said position will be conducted and an eligibility list <br />established upon Council approval. The candidate chosen will meet the education and experience <br />requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding availability <br />1999/2000 budget is as follows: Account No. <br />6070-6073-1100 (salary related benefits). <br />Patrick G.'Crowe, Chief of Police <br />for this general fund position, in the fiscal year <br />100-6070-6073-1010 (salary) and Account No. 100 - <br />MISSION CRITICAL: This position is required to develop and supervise the Neighborhood <br />Enrichment Team, which includes Code Enforcement and our Problem Oriented Police operations. <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: As soon as recruitment is completed. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: This position is required to promote community police <br />operations by strengthening the potential of delivery of police service through Code Enforcement and <br />Problem Oriented Policing. <br />RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the recruitment and ratification of the <br />employee appointment to the full-time position of Police Sergeant as recommended by the Police <br />Chief. <br />Attachment: Job description. <br />Prepared by: P.
