CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT For the Council Meeting of October 19, 1999 To: Honorable Mayor & City C cil Approval: Henry Garcia, City Manage From: Dennis Morris, Human Resource Director�q Adrian Reynosa, Acting Recreation Services Manager kp Subject: Use of Fleming Park & Band shell by American Legion Post #155 and Veterans of Foreign War Post # 6476 on Thursday, November 11, 1999 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Date: October 12, 1999 BACKGROUND: This annual event is co-sponsored between the City, American Legion Post #155 and Veterans of Foreign War Post #6476. The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War are requesting a parade prior to the ceremony at Fleming Park, honoring all the Men and Women who served our country in the Armed Forces. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This is a scheduled work day for all city staff and there will be no financial impact on staff hours. They are requesting street closure from "O" St. to "D" St. for the parade, which will begin at 10:00 a.m. Upon conclusion of the parade, the ceremony at Fleming Park will begin at 11:00 a.m. There will be no financial impact to the general fund, and any staff time expended will be covered from the existing 1999/2000 budget. CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: Fleming Park is an ideal setting for this special event, it is located in the center of town making it accessible for the citizens of our community to honor all the men and women who risked there lives, serving our beautiful country. Expected attendance is 200 adults, 75 children. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the request by the City of Colton to co-sponsor, the American Legion Post #155 and Veterans of Foreign War Post # 6476 for the use of Fleming Park & Band shell on Thursday, November 11, 1999.
