CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF APRIL 4, 2000
TO: Honorable Mayor and City
APPROVAL: Hepf' y. Garcia, City
FROM:
Community Devel
SUBJECT: Reprogramming of $34,774.95 of CDBG (Community Development
Block Grant) Funds from the Colton Contingency/Unprogrammed
Account to the activity, "Historic Preservation -Colton Museum"
DATE:
March 28, 2000
BACKGROUND:
The City's Contingency/Unprogrammed Funds Account, currently has a balance of
334,774.95. In March, 1999, the City Council accepted the concept to reserve these
funds for future allocation to the Colton Museum Restoration project, should
construction bids exceed the amount of funds currently available in the project account.
The current balance of CDBG funds available for construction in the Museum project is
$115,755.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
On Tuesday, March 14, 2000, the Public Construction Bids were open for the Colton
Museum Renovation Project. There were three bids submitted for the project from the
following contractors:
1. Southland Empire, Rancho Cucamonga, CA $ 149,871
2. Wyatt Construction, Colton, CA 185,108
3. W.B. Construction Co., Riverside, CA 283,199
Due to various discrepancies with the bids, under separate action staff is requesting the
Council to reject all bids and approve the re -advertisement of new bids for the project.
In view of the bid amounts that were received, it is apparent that additional funds will be
required to complete the project. Therefore, staff is requesting that the Council approve
the reprogramming of the $34,774.95 of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
funds that remain in the City's Contingency/Unprogrammed Account to the project.
ALTERNATIVES:
Deny the reprogramming request and retain the full amount of $34,774.95 in the
Contingency/Unprogrammed Fund Account, until new construction bids are received for
the Colton Museum Restoration Project.
Item #7
