CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR % <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS FROM THE AQMD AIR POLLUTION <br />REDUCTION FUND FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF TWO (2) <br />ADDITIONAL RECONDITIONED NATURAL GAS FUELING STATIONS, IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $9,000 <br />DATE: MARCH 27, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City participates in a clean air project funding opportunity made available through the Mobile Source <br />Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC). Under this program, the City has purchased five <br />natural gas vehicles and three reconditioned natural gas fueling stations. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />The City's five natural gas vehicles currently share three refueling stations. The addition of two <br />reconditioned natural gas fueling stations will ensure all five vehicles can be fueled in a timely and <br />efficient manner, and that each department will be accurately charged for their natural gas usage. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />Funds are available in the Air Quality Management District (AQMD) Unreserved Fund Balance Account <br />Number 214-7000-7011-4930. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />The use of natural gas vehicles helps to reduce air pollution. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends approval of appropriation of funds from the AQMD Unreserved Fund Balance for the <br />purchase and installation of two additional reconditioned natural gas fueling stations in the amount of <br />$9000. <br />Report prepared by Rebecca Gallegos, Purchasing Assistant <br />Attachments: None <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />Item #12 <br />
