CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR` � <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR A PROTECTIVE RELAY TEST SET FOR THE UTILITY <br />DEPARTMENT TO YOUNG & COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF $64,806.24 <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 24, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Substation Division of the Electric Utility has a requirement for a protective relay test set that is <br />used to test the overcurrent protection of the electric distribution system as part of its preventive <br />maintenance and testing procedures. The protective relay test set currently used is not equipped to test <br />the newer technologies present in many of our substations. This item was approved in the FY 99/00 <br />budget. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />On January 24, 2000, the Utility Department posted a Notice Inviting Bid for a protective relay test set <br />for the Substation Division of the Utility Department. Bid packages were mailed to four vendors. A bid <br />opening was held at 10:30a.m., February 15, 2000, at the Corporate Yard. The only bid received was <br />from Young and Company. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />Funds for this requirement are budgeted and available in Account Number 520-8000-8003-4930-0101- <br />000. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends award of bid for a protective relay test set to Young & Company in the Amount of <br />$64,806.24. <br />Report prepared by Rebecca Gallegos, Purchasing Assistant <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />Item #15 <br />
