Hendrix, Fire Chief - <br />Public Hearing to Discuss the City's Weed Abatement Program <br />DATE: March 8, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Annually, each Spring and Fall, the Fire Department administers the City's Weed <br />Abatement Program. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />At the regular City Council Meeting on March 7, 2000, the City Council approved <br />Resolution No. R-16-00 declaring weeds, rubbish and trash a public nuisance and <br />directing the Fire Chief to give notice and provide for the abatement. <br />At this time, the City is entering into the Spring Program. Notices have been sent to <br />approximately 2,000 vacant property owners as identified and reported from the <br />County Tax Assessor. Abatement proceedings are scheduled to begin May 1, 2000. <br />In addition, a Public Hearing is required to hear any objections by property owners <br />who may be assessed for the abatement. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />None. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Item #4 <br />
