CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT TO MATICH CORP. IN THE AMOUNT OF $133,894.40 FOR THE STORMWATER MISSING LINK PROJECT DATE: MAY 1, 2000 BACKGROUND: The FY99-00 Stormwater Capital Improvement budget included funds for the installation of curb, gutter and sidewalk at the following locations: 1. West Johnston Street 2. West Mill Street 3. Olive Place 4. South Seventh Street 5. South Eight Street 6. Washington Street A total of 1,334 feet of curb and gutter and 2,425.6 feet of sidewalk will be installed. The FY00-01 Stormwater Capital Improvement budget includes funds for the installation of curb, gutter and sidewalk at the following locations: 1. Pepper Avenue 4. Walin Street 2. Pennsylvania Avenue 5. Hert Street 3. Orangewood Street] A total of 1,735 feet of curb, gutter and sidewalk will be installed next fiscal year. DISCUSSION: On May 1, 2000 staff received and opened two bids for the missing link project. The results are as follows: 1. Matich Corp. $133,894.40 2. Malton Construction $142,830.94 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: The installation of curb, gutter and sidewalk in the designated areas will prevent earth from entering into the stormwater runoff and flowing into the City's storm drain system, which ultimately flows to the Santa Ana River. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for the missing link project is in the FY99-00 Budget, Stormwater Capital Improvements Account No. 722-8200-8215-3890.
