CITY OF COLTON ITEM NO. 9 <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For the Council Meeting of September 4, 2001 <br />To: Honorable Mayor & City Council <br />From: Ronald C. Kenny, Director of Parks, Recreation & Family Services <br />Subject: Request Recruitment and Ratification of Employee Appointment to <br />The Full-time Position of Maintenance Worker I, Three Positions, in the <br />Parks Maintenance Division <br />Date: August 27, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On August 7, 2001, Council approved three additional Parks Maintenance Worker I positions for <br />the Fiscal Year 2001 — 2002 budget. The salary range is $1992-$2422. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The Division currently has twelve full-time staff members. The staff currently oversees the <br />maintenance of 12 parks and over three miles of median islands and common areas within the <br />City. The additional staff will allow the Division to provide maintenance services over weekends. <br />Recruitment for these positions would be conducted and an eligibility list established with <br />Council approval. The candidate chosen would meet the education and experience <br />requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Hiring for this position would be effective immediately. Funding will be provided through the <br />Parks Division budget, Account No. 100-6200-6205-1010 (salaries — miscellaneous) and <br />Account No. 100-6200-6205-1100 (salary related benefits). <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: <br />The Department's desire is to increase the quality of service and to remain ahead of <br />landscaping problems that can negatively impact the community. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the recruitment, ratification and appointment of <br />three full-time Maintenance Worker I positions in the Parks Division. <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />Attorney: <br />Finance Director: <br />Manager: U61) OTHER: <br />
