Item #12
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF September 4, 2001
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: Ronald C. Kenny, Director of Parks, Recreation and Family Services 10
-
SUBJECT: Approval of Application Resolution for Roberti-Z'berg-Harris Block Grant
Program Funding
DATE: August 20, 2001
BACKGROUND:
Over a year ago, the citizens of the State of California approved the Safe Neighborhood Parks, Clean
Water, Clean Air and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2000. This important bond measure guaranteed
funding throughout the state to enhance parks, recreation and leisure time pursuits.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
For the past twelve months the state legislature and interested parties have been developing guidelines for
the application and distribution of funding under the Park Bond Act of 2000. Recently, the City of Colton
received official notification of the funding totals to be received under the Roberti-Z'berg-Harris Grant
Program.
The program provides funding for park acquisition, restoration, rehabilitation, improvement and
development projects. The funding applies only to urbanized cities.
The State Department of Parks and Recreation, who oversees this funding program, has requested that the
City Council approve a resolution encumbering the funds for the Roberti-Z'berg-Harris Grant program.
City projects to be funded would be those recommended by the City's Recreation & Parks Commission
and approved by the City Council.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The City of Colton will receive $137,866 from the Roberti-Z'berg-Harris Grant. The funds are to be
placed in account #248-5745 and increase appropriations in account 4248-6950-6957-3890.
Approval to Encumber Funds
Page 2
