Barrera, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: CERTIFICATION OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD <br />MARCH 5, 2002, IN THE CITY OF COLTON <br />DATE: March 27, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />At the October 16, 2001 Council Meeting the City Council adopted Resolution No. R- <br />102-01, Calling and Giving Notice of a Special Municipal Election, to be held in the City <br />of Colton to fill the unexpired term of the elected position of Councilmember/District 1. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The City Council by adoption of Resolution No. R-110-01 authorized the Registrar of <br />Voters the County election department of the County of San Bernardino to canvass the <br />returns of the Special Municipal Election. The canvass was completed on March 22, <br />2002. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Estimated cost is $500. The Registrar of Voters required a 25% deposit of the estimated <br />cost for the March 5, 2002 Election. This was paid in February of 2002 in the amount of <br />$125. The Invoice for the balance owing is expected by June 30, 2002. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends adoption of the attached Resolution, reciting the facts and declaring <br />the results of the March 5, 2002, Special Municipal Election. <br />Attachment: Resolution <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />City Attorne ��— Finance Director: <br />City Manager: OTHER: <br />1 <br />
