Item #21
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
WILL I LV Ii V r AUQnst UU, LUUL
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Thomas K. Clarke, Electric Utility Director I
SUBJECT: First Amendment to Professional Services Agreement with Ralph E. Hitchcock &
Associates, Inc.
DATE: July 23, 2002
BACKGROUND:
On May 21, 2001, the City Council and Ralph E. Hitchcock & Associates, Inc. entered into a professional services
agreement ("Agreement') for power resource consulting and consulting services on the 2002 electric generation
project. The term of the agreement expired on March 31, 2002. Staff is requesting that the City Council amend the
Agreement to extend the expiration date for an additional twelve months, until July 31, 2003 with an option to
extend the agreement another twelve months.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
The only proposed revision is that the term of the agreement be extended, to expire on December 31, 2003. There
are no changes to the amount of compensation or any other provision of the Agreement. The extension of the
Agreement is necessary as the 2002 electric generation project is not scheduled for completion until July 2003.
ALTERNATIVES:
There are two alternatives: (1) deny approval of the First Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with
Ralph E. Hitchcock & Associates, Inc.; or (2) take no action.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact. The compensation amount of the Agreement, as originally approved by Council on
May 21, 2001, remains unchanged at $250,000. Sufficient funds from the original agreement will be carried over
from fiscal year 2001-2002 to fund the current fiscal year.
ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the First Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with
Ralph E. Hitchcock & Associates, Inc.
Attachment: (One Attachment)
Attorney: Finance Director: City
ager: OTHER:
