CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF February 19, 2002
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Ron Kenny, Director of Parks, Recreation & Family Services
SUBJECT: Request to Waive City Daily Sales Permit For Ken Hobbs Memorial Little
League Anniversary Activities
DATE: February 12, 2002
Item #22
BACKGROUND:
In 1992 the Colton City Council passed Resolution No. R-73-92 adopting certain new fees and increasing
certain existing fees for various services provided by the City. One of those fees included a Daily Sales
Permit of $15 per day for vendors selling from a vehicle, car, stand or trailer.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
Stand or booth fees for events can be expensive. An event organizer might charge a $50 event fee, in
addition to the City's $15 Daily Sales Permit fee. If the vendor then wishes to serve food items, the County
Health Department levies a third fee of $50. These fees can be prohibitive for clubs and service oriented
groups wishing to raise money.
Ken Hubbs Memorial Little League is requesting that the City Council waive the $15 Daily Sales Permit for
booth vendors participating in their Fiftieth Annual Anniversary March 23, 2002. The League will be
charging a flat $50 booth space fee. However, a charge for a Daily Sales Permit is an additional burden for
participants.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council waived the City's Daily Sales Permit for all vendors participating in
the Ken Hubbs memorial Little League Fiftieth Anniversary Activity.
TEAM ONLY
Attorney:
Manager:
Finance Director:
OTHER:
