CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF January 15, 2002 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Thomas T. Hendrix, Fire Chief '��-- <br />Item #12 <br />SUBJECT: Approve Acceptance of CDBG Grant and Increase Fire Department <br />Budget <br />DATE: December 18, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Colton Fire Department Explorer Program was awarded a CDBG grant in the amount of <br />$2500. This is a routine request to adjust budget line item 100-6090-6091-1180 (Safety <br />Equipment) to accommodate the acceptance of this reimbursable grant. The grant funding will be <br />used to purchase much needed safety equipment for the young people in our Explorer Post. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The Explorer Program has operated with hand-me-down safety gear since its inception. This grant <br />provides the opportunity for them to purchase new fire helmets, turnouts, boots, and brush gear. It <br />will enhance their safety while involved in training and emergency activities. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />Funds will be expended from account 100-6090-6091-1180 to purchase the safety equipment, <br />and the CDBG reimbursements will be recorded in revenue account number 100-6764. There will <br />be no net fiscal impact on the City <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve this routine adjustment of the budget to <br />accommodate the acceptance of this grant, and adoption of Resolution <br />Attorney: <br />City Manager: <br />Finance Director: <br />OTHER: <br />
