Item #18
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF, MARCH 26, 2002
TO: HON. MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: Daryl J. Parrish, City Manager
SUBJECT: Approve and Adopt Resolution for Supplemental Compensation to the
City Treasurer
DATE: March 14, 2002
BACKGROUND:
Ordinance 829 fixes the salary for the position of City Treasurer at $225 per month and
authorizes the City Council to provide, by resolution, supplemental compensation for additional
responsibilities. At the Council Meeting of February 19, 2002, the City Council approved a
budgets adjustment to increase the salary for City Treasurer Michael Williams.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
The present City Treasurer, Michael Williams performs comprehensive treasury services, and in
addition, City Treasurer Williams performs investment, financial forecasting and money
management services for the City. Should the City Treasurer cease to perform such services,
the City may choose to reduce or delete the Treasurer's supplemental salary.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The change to the City Treasure salary would increase the cost by approximately $3,120 per
year, over what was previously approved by the City Council. The account for the City
Treasurer's position is Salaries — Miscellaneous 100-6060-6060-1010.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached salary resolution increasing the
City Treasurer's salary effective February 19, 2002.
REVIEW TEAM ON'Y
1 04
City Attorney:--- Finance Director:
City Manager:-- OTHER:
