Item #16 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF OCTOBER 15, 2002 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER P.E., CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER #1 AND #2 FOR <br />THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT OF RICH DAUER PARK <br />IMPROVEMENT PROJECT IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF <br />$24,624.08 <br />DATE: OCTOBER 2, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On November 6, 2001, the City Council awarded the construction contract of Rich Dauer Park <br />Improvement Project to Coglley and Son, Inc. in the amount of $182,950.00. <br />During the course of construction, plan and layout of sidewalk was revised for safety consideration <br />and to avoid an existing tree. Additional concrete was removed and replaced from the picnic area <br />due to existing cracks in the slab, and additional fill material was required on the location of <br />playground equipment due to the removal of paved basketball court. All of these modifications are <br />part of Change Order #1 with a total amount of $15,865.00. <br />Change Order #2 is for the installation of Safety Surfacing Mat on three (3) locations. The <br />contractor price for this item was based on the black colored matting. The City prefers a <br />combination of blue and yellow to blend with the color of the Playground Equipment and provide a <br />cooler surface. The total amount for this Change Order is $8,759.08. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Change Order #1 is in the amount of $15,865.00 and represents 8.67% of the contract price. Change <br />Order #2 is the amount of $8,759.08 and represents 4.79% of contract price. The total of this two <br />Change Order is $24,624.08 and represents 13.46% of contract price. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />The said public improvements are Exempt under Section 15301 (Existing Facilities) of the <br />California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). <br />
