EAST OF LA <br />CADENA DR. <br />DATE: October 1, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The alleyway (20.00 feet wide) located behind the thrift store located on the southeast corner of <br />Valley Blvd. and La Cadena Drive was created by the recordation of the Map of the Town of <br />Colton in 1887. Traffic along this alleyway currently is restricted to westbound traffic only, exiting <br />on to La Cadena Drive. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />This action will create a safer environment by eliminating all traffic exiting at this location thereby <br />reducing the conflicts with traffic along La Cadena Drive. This action was proposed by the Police <br />Department and the Traffic Safety Committee and the Planning Commission have reviewed this <br />issue and recommended approval of this action. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The owner of the thrift store will complete the fencing of the alleyway. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the attached resolution, declaring the intention to abandon <br />this portion of the alleyway and set a Public Hearing for the City Council Meeting of November 19, <br />2002 <br />Attachments: <br />Resolution <br />Plat <br />Report prepared by Bnan Baden, Engineering Technician II <br />
