CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF September 17, 2002
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
2
FROM: Ron Kenny — Director of Parks, Recreation & Family Services
SUBJECT: Request for Increased Appropriation of Funds for Expanded
Contract Class Program
DATE: September 3, 2002
Item #10
BACKGROUND:
The Parks, Recreation & Family Services Department wishes to further expand its Contract Class
Program. The department is seeking to add between 5-10 new classes within the current fiscal year.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
The Contract Class Program continues to be a very successful program in Colton. Response to recent
added class opportunities has been positive, and more class opportunities are readily available to add to
the current curriculum. These classes present the chance for Colton instructors to provide Colton
residents with quality instruction in Colton facilities. The Department expects to serve approximately
200-500 additional adult and youth participants with these added classes.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no net financial impact to the City for this allocation. Revenue account number 100-6756
would increase by $35,000, and expenditure account 100-6200-6202-2350 would increase by the
corresponding amount, $35,000.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the above-mentioned accounts be increased in order to accommodate expansion
of the Contract Class Program for the City of Colton.
PREPARED BY:
Bill Smith, Recreation Services Manager
REVIEW TEAM ONLY
City Attorney: Finance Director:
City Manager: OTHER:
