Item #18 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF APRIL 5, 2005 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER ` ) <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE RATIFICATION FOR THE FULL TIME POSITION OF <br />MAINTENANCE WORKER I TO UNDERFILL: ONE VACANCY IN THE <br />PARKS DIVISION AND ONE VACANCY IN THE STORM WATER <br />DIVISION, WITHIN THE PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT. <br />DATE: MARCH 28, 2005 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Two vacancies currently exist within the Public Services Department. One vacancy exists within <br />the Parks Division for Maintenance Worker II, and the second within the Storm Water Division for <br />Equipment Operator Il. The salary range for Maintenance Worker II is $2606 to $3168 and the <br />salary range for Equipment Operator II is $2876 to $3496. <br />DISCUSSIOWANALYSIS: <br />Staff recommends underfilling these two vacant positions as Maintenance Worker I positions; the <br />salary range for Maintenance Worker I is $2,482 to $3,018 per month. Underfilling the vacant <br />positions with a Maintenance Worker I position will not affect the execution of the Park Division's <br />nor the Storm Water Division's workloads. An eligibility list has already been established for the <br />Maintenance Worker I position. There will be savings as a result of underfilling the vacancies <br />totaling about $20,500. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The General Fund will not be impacted by this recruitment as the vacancies are budgeted for in <br />the following accounts: <br />• Parks Division: 100-6150-6205-1010 (salaries), 100-6150-6205-1100 (salary related <br />benefits, 100-6150-6205-1101 (taxable benefit); and <br />• Storm Water Division: 722-6150-8215-1010 (salaries), 722-6150-8215-1100 (salary <br />related benefits), 722-6150-8215-1101 (taxable benefit). <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />Not applicable. <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST: <br />Not applicable. <br />7/10/03 City Clerk's Office Cb <br />
