CITY OF COLTON Item #10 <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF APRIL 19, 2005 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: Jeannette Olko, Electric Utility General Manager <br />SUBJECT: Approve Attached Salary Resolution and Job Description for an <br />Electric Utility Project Manager Position Within the Electric Utility <br />Department; Approve Recruitment and Ratification for the Electric <br />Utility Project Manager Position <br />DATE: April 11, 2005 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On February 8, 2005, the Electric Department presented a five-year business plan to Council. In <br />that plan was an outline of positions needed that will allow the department to conduct business <br />more efficiently and effectively. One of the positions mentioned was an Electric Utility Project <br />Manager. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Electric Utility Project Manager will primarily serve as program coordinator for the electric <br />utility's asset management program. There are several projects that need to be set up and <br />tracked in Synergen, most notably the Agua Mansa Power Plant and all public benefit programs. <br />In addition, maintenance costs and capital costs for transmission and distribution work must be <br />separated and tracked properly. This position will also assist staff with project tracking, <br />preparation of project reports for management, and administrative coordination of various <br />projects. The salary range for the Electric Utility Project Manager is proposed to be $5,145 to <br />$6,254 per month. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funds will be budgeted in FY 05-06 in account number 520-8000-8001-1010-0920-000, Salaries, <br />Administration Division. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST — Gift Disclosure Requirements <br />Not applicable. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that City Council approve the attached Electric Utility Project Manager job <br />description, approve the attached salary resolution for said position, and approve recruitment and <br />ratification of the Electric Utility Project Manager. <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />City Attorney: 4 Finance Director: <br />City Manager: / OTHER: 4 - <br />
