CITY OF COLTON ITEM #17 <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 16, 2005 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />PO <br />FROM: DILU DE ALWIS, FINANCE DIRECTOR i -___ <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR RECRUITMENT AND RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE <br />APPOINTMENT TO THE FULL-TIME POSITION OF WAREHOUSE <br />SUPERVISOR IN THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT <br />DATE: AUGUST 6, 2005 <br />BACKGROUND <br />Staff is requesting authorization to recruit in anticipation of a vacancy in this position. The salary range for the <br />Warehouse Supervisor position is $3,088 - $3,753 per month <br />DISCUSSION/ ANALYSIS <br />The Warehouse Supervisor position in the Purchasing Division of the Finance Departments fills a vital function <br />in the organization. This position is responsible for maintaining adequate levels of inventory as well as limited <br />purchasing functions. The supervisor will also ensure that warehouse records and the related inventory are <br />accurate and not subject to audit findings. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Finance Department can recruit a Storekeeper instead of a Warehouse Supervisor and provide occasional <br />supervision since Finance is not located at Corporate Yard. This however will not provide hands on <br />supervision of the warehouse operation and could increase the potential of audit findings. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The funds will be appropriated in the fiscal year 2005-06 budget for this position in the Warehouse Salary <br />account number 605-6040-6043-1010 and the Warehouse Employee Benefit account number 605-6040-6043- <br />1100. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />None <br />
