ITEM #13
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF DECEMBER 209 2005
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., PW DIRECTOR/CITY ENGINEER
SUBJECT: APPROVE THE REQUEST THE SCI CALIFORNIA FUNERAL
SERVICES, INC. TO ALLOW ADDITIONAL SIX MONTHS TO
DEDICATE RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR THE FUTURE RE-
ALIGNMENT OF RECHE CANYON ROAD.
DATE: DECEMBER 12, 2005
BACKGROUND:
SCI California Funeral Services, Inc. (Montecito Memorial Park) is constructing a 13,120 S.F.
Funeral Building and an 8,373 S.F. Mausoleum along Washington Street. The project was provided
a Condition of Approval to dedicate an 88' right-of-way for the future re -alignment of Reche
Canyon Road prior to Certificate of Occupancy, or enter into an agreement with the City to dedicate
at a later date.
The project will be completed in February of 2006, but the documents for dedication have not been
completed. The delay in preparing the documents was due to uncertainty in the exact alignment of
the new road. SCI California Funeral Services, Inc. is requesting that the City Council approve the
attached letter of agreement authorizing the dedication on or before August 1, 2006.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
Over the past year, the developer has been working with the City to arrive at a correct legal
description for the Reche Canyon right-of-way. A request for additional six months to provide the
dedication documents was requested by the developer to allow more time for processing. Allowing
additional six months will move the deadline to August 1, 2006.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
The proposed public improvements are exempt under State CEQA Guidelines Section 15321.
