ITEM #21
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE COLTON UTILITY AUTHORITY MEETING OF DECEMBER 20, 2005
TO: HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND UTILITY AUTHORITY MEMBERS
FROM: ERIC R. FRASER, DIRECTOR OF WATER & WASTEWATER OPERATIONS
SUBJECT: ACCEPT AND APPROVE RECORDATION OF GRANT EASEMENT FOR
UTILITY PURPOSES FROM PROPERTY OWNERS OF ASSESSOR
PARCEL NUMBER (APN) 0160-331-09 AT 1431 TEJON AVENUE COLTON,
CA.
DATE: DECEMBER 7, 2005
BACKGROUND:
The City is replacing old steel water pipelines throughout the City of Colton. The existing pipeline
in Tejon Avenue terminates in a dead end. To improve the water quality, the water system needs
to be looped to the water pipeline on Herberts Lane, which necessitates the acquisition of an
easement. The property owners at 1431 Tejon Avenue (APN 0160-331-09), Pedro Villarreal and
Ana Maria Villarreal, agreed to dedicate the necessary easement. A signed copy of the grant
easement is attached as Exhibit "A".
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
The property owners agreed to grant an easement for utility purposes in order to accommodate
the connection of the water pipeline in Tejon Avenue to the existing pipeline in Herberts Lane.
This connection will result in improved water circulation in the immediate area. The construction
of the pipeline is in an accessible location on the eastern edge of the property.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The total consideration for the easement is $500.00. Sufficient funds are available in Capital
Improvement Account, Number 521-8200-8206-3890-0000-000.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
None
