Item #9
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF May 17. 2005
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Bill Smith, Community Services Director
SUBJECT: Request Approval for Use of Fleming Park for St. John's Lutheran Child
Care Center on Friday, June 10, 2005, 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
DATE: May 9, 2005
BACKGROUND:
St. John's Lutheran Child Care Center in Colton has submitted a request to use Fleming Park and
its bandshell for graduation & promotion ceremonies on Friday, June 10, 2005. The event is
scheduled to proceed from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., including set-up and clean-up.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
Fleming Park should provide an excellent venue to host such an event, and has successfully
hosted such events, by the same applicant, previously. Expected attendance is estimated at
approximately 210 people, including adults, teens and children. A facility reservation application
has been submitted by the group, as well as a supplemental letter of explanation, and a copy of
each has been attached.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The City will provide standard staff support to prepare the facility for the event. The applicant will
be charged the standard, resident facility reservation fee of $25 for the event.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST:
St. John's Lutheran Child Care Center
Contact: Peggy Johnson, (909) 825-6434
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council approve the reservation request from St. John's Lutheran
Child Care Center, for their graduation & promotion ceremony, to be held at Fleming Park on
Friday, June 10, 2005. Staff also recommends that this approval be contingent upon the group
providing liability insurance and a cleaning deposit to protect the City.
Attachments
REVIEW TEAM Y
City Attorney: Finance Director:
City Manager: OTHER:
