FRASER, DIRECTOR OF WATER & WASTEWATER OPERATIONS <br />SUBJECT: AMEND KRIEGER & STEWART CONTRACT FOR ADDITIONAL <br />ENGINEERING DESIGN AND SPECIFICATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE <br />FOR THE PERCHLORATE WELLHEAD TREATMENT SYSTEMS <br />DATE: MAY 9, 2005 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In January of 2003, the CUA passed Resolution No. CUA -2003-01, that declared an emergency <br />condition, requiring immediate action to ensure the reliable delivery of a pure, wholesome and <br />potable water supply and negotiation/execution of contracts as necessary for emergency repairs <br />and services to complete a design -build wellhead treatment system for well nos. 15, 17 and 24. <br />The design and construction of those facilities have been completed; however, the upgrade to <br />existing well pumping plant No. 24 and installation of booster station at well nos. 15 and 17 require <br />engineering design and specification development assistance. <br />On November 18, 2003, the CUA approved $75,000 for the engineering design and specification <br />development assistance for the Perchlorate Treatment systems at Wells 15, 17 and 24. <br />DISC USSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The facilities are 95% complete and require additional design and inspection of the Perchlorate <br />Wellhead Treatment System.
