FA <br />ITEM #19 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COLTON UTILITY AUTHORITY MEETING OF November 15, 2005 <br />TO: HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND UTILITY AUTHORITY MEMBERS <br />FROM: ERIC R. FRASER, DIRECTOR OF WATER & WASTEWATER OPERATIONS <br />SUBJECT: AMEND CONTRACT TO ASSOCIATED ENGINEERS, INC. FOR THE <br />ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING DESIGN FOR WATER MAINLINE <br />REPLACEMENT ON BORDWELL AVENUE. <br />DATE: NOVEMBER 3, 2005 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Several thousand feet of old, undersized, steel water mainlines were identified as needing <br />replacement due to the presence of discolored water in the pipes. Professional engineering <br />services were performed for the design portion of the project. However, due to unforeseen <br />conditions in the ground, additional professional engineering services are needed to efficiently <br />replace the water mainlines on Bordwell Avenue to Olive Street just Northwest of Lincoln School. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Initially, the engineering design conducted by Associated Engineers, Inc. was estimated to cost <br />approximately Seventy -Seven Thousand Two Hundred Sixty -Six Dollars and No Cents ($77,266). <br />Contracts were executed on October 25, 2004 with Associated Engineers, Inc. Due to the <br />unforeseen conditions noted above, additional engineering design services need to be performed <br />in an amount not -to -exceed Four Thousand Dollars and No Cents ($4,000), resulting in a total <br />cost not -to -exceed Eighty -One Thousand Two Hundred Sixty -Six Dollars and No Cents ($81,266). <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Sufficient funds are available in Capital Improvement Account, Number 521-8100-8105-3890- <br />0000-000. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST — Gift Disclosure Requirements <br />Exact Business Name: Associated Engineers, Inc. <br />President or Equal: April Moores, President <br />Contact: April Moores, President <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that City Council approve, with concurrence by the CUA, a Four Thousand <br />Dollars and No Cents ($4,000) amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with <br />Associated Engineers, Inc. for a total amount of Eighty -One Thousand Two Hundred Sixty -Six <br />Dollars and No Cents ($81,266) for the replacement of the water mainlines. <br />
