12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 1 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3726 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF COLTON STRONGLY URGING THE <br />.CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY COMMISSION TO RE <br />- <br />TAINTHE FULL FOOTHILL FREEWAY. <br />WHEREAS, the County of San Bernardino and several cities have had <br />agreements with the State of California for approximately 20 years for develop- <br />ment of Route 30, known as the Foothill Freeway; and <br />WHEREAS, these jurisdictions have predicated their General Plans <br />upon the utilization of that Freeway to carry both local and through traffic; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, development of the corridor has progressed in,accordance <br />with those General Plans; and <br />WHEREAS, the present lack of the Foothill Freeway causes intense <br />traffic congestion on both north -south and east -west surface streets,, adding to <br />air pollution, noise pollution, and traffic hazards; and <br />WHEREAS, it is understood that the California Highway Commission <br />is considering rescission of the Foothill Freeway routing; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Colton -that the California Highway Commission be most strongly urged to retain <br />the Foothill Freeway and to direct early construction of that Freeway from its <br />present terminus in La Verne to Interstate 10 in order to relieve the significant <br />burdens caused by the lack of that link of the Freeway. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution <br />.be presented to the California Highway Commission. <br />PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 20th day of September, 1977. <br />98f -1E.
