CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of January 2. 1990 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Rich Holmer, Human Services Director l{� _ <br />SUBJECT: Adoption of Smoking Policy Date: Dec. 27, 1989 <br />At Hutton and Luque Community Centers. <br />Presently between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. the San Bernardino County <br />Department of Health prohibits smoking at both the Hutton & Luque Community Centers <br />due to the preparation and service of food for our senior nutrition program. Though <br />there is no prohibition of smoking at other times both community centers offer cooking <br />classes and many community groups and private citizens are now using both facilities <br />for functions which involve food preparation and service. In addition, the layout of <br />both community centers does not provide for an adequate seperate area which is <br />conducive for smoking while other programs (eg: Tiny Tots, Gymnastics, etc.) are being <br />conducted. Staff has carefully studied this issue and has determined that a no <br />smoking policy should be implemented at the Hutton and Luque Community Centers. <br />Recommendation : <br />At their December 20, 1989 meeting the Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously <br />voted to initiate a no smoking policy at the Hutton & Luque Community Centers.
