Keane, City <br />SUBJECT: <br />A <br />Manager � I� <br />Date: <br />Extension of Provisional Appointments <br />12-28-89 <br />The positions of Public Works Operations Manager and Community <br />Service Officer are currently filled by provisional appointments. <br />David S. Melilli's appointment as Public Works Operations Manager, <br />terminates on January 10, 1989, and Barbara Butler-Bratton's <br />appointment as Community Service Officer terminates on January 1, <br />1990. The recruitment for both positions are in process but will not <br />be completed before the expiration of the provisional appointments. <br />Applications have been received and we are in the process of setting <br />the Oral Boards. We anticipate establishing eligibility lists within <br />the next three weeks. It would be a hardship on the Public Works <br />Director and the Police Chief to have these positions vacant until <br />the recruitment is completed. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />1. David S. Melilli's provisional appointment be extended for a <br />maximum of three months or the selection of a Public Works <br />Operations Manager from the eligibility list by the Public <br />Works Director, whichever occurs first. <br />2.
