Hutton, Director of Public Works <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Emergency Ordinance for the City's Date: October 10, 1990 <br />Cross -Connection (Backflow) Prevention Program <br />Job <br />The State of California mandates that all public agencies adopt an ordinance <br />providing for regulatory authority of backflow prevention devices for both private <br />and public water systems. The attached Ordinance provides for the authority and <br />bases of the program. <br />STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: <br />The date for submittal of the program to the State has been set for November 1, 1990 <br />and in order to meet the submittal date staff is requesting that Council act upon <br />the Ordinance as an emergency item to meet the required November 1 deadline. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />In order to meet the required time frame established by the State it is necessary to <br />consider the Ordinance as an emergency item. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />f�U�Ii: ►l►!
