CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of February 5, 1991
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: John C. Hutton, Director of Public WorksC
SUBJECT: Approval of Additional Appropriation for Date: January 30, 1991
Landscape Maintenance District Operations
RArVr.P0f Nn
The City's Landscape Maintenance District increases in size as additional developments
and projects are annexed into the District throughout the fiscal year.
Areas such as the new west side park, new housing tracts in Reche Canyon and the Cooley
Ranch area continue to develop increasing the maintenance areas, in turn this increases
not only the contract scope of services, but also the utility expenses.
STATENIF,NT OF THE PROBLEM:
Funds received from the County Tax Collector for the Landscape Maintenance District
exceeds the contract amount for maintenance and the utility expense. The contract
amount is based upon the actual size of the District at the time the contract is let
and utility expenses are also based upon actual current utility expenses at the
beginning of the fiscal year. During the year, depending upon development growth,
the District may expand beyond the projected budget though funds received exceed
expenditures.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Landscape Maintenance District is a special tax funded project and funds received
must be utilized for District maintenance and related expenses.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The City's Landscape Maintenance District is a self-supporting project from which
taxes are received to support the maintenance and utility expenses related to the
project.
Attachments: I
Page 1 of? — Item No.
CENTRAL RECY" 6.;.7..J
FIL No. . . ...................
