CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of May 28, 1991
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: John C. Hutton, Director of Public Works
Date: May 17, 1991
SUBJECT:
Approval of Emergency Resolution for the Repair
of Olive St. and 10th St. Alley Sewer Mains
:.0, ►
The Olive St. and 10th St. alley (between "F" and "G") sewer mains are 70 years
old and were built with non -reinforced concrete and have collasped in several
locations. During a recent inspection of the areas, it was noted that the street
and alley are caving in due to the sewer mains collasping. Many sections of the
sewer mains are blocked and OMI is unable to clean the lines due to the condition
of the pavement.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
The City has used the Insituform process on Shasta Dr., Scenic Dr. and Stevens alley
and has found the process to be the least disruptive with the littlest inconvenience
to the customer. Since the Insituform process is a sole source, it is necessary
for Council to approve Insituform to due the emergency repair work required for
the Olive St. and 10th St. alley sewer mains.
ALTERNATIVES:
None
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The repair of sewer mains are in the Water Quality Control budget and sufficient
funds exist for the projects.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None
RECONIVENDATION:
Staff recommends that Council approve the attached Resolution declaring the sewer
mains repair to be an emergency and approve Insituform as the sole source to repair
the Olive St. and 10th St. alley sewer mains in the amount of $98,195
/lj
CITY MANAGER'S CONCURRENCE -
Attachments: 2
Page 1 of — Item No.5
FILE.....................
