Drews, Electric Utility Director <br />SUBJECT: AMENDMENT TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA JOINT Date: 5/21/92 <br />POLE AGREEMENT <br />1:7To];T"!no HIM <br />The City has a joint ownership of poles agreement with other electric and <br />communications utilities who are members of the Southern California Joint Pole <br />Committee. The City is a Limited Member and has no voting rights. <br />STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: <br />The Southern California Joint Pole Committee reviewed the present agreement and <br />found some inconsistencies in the present voting policy and potential problems <br />therein. First, the present agreement does not require a minimum number of <br />members for a quorum. The attached amendment to the agreement will require at <br />least 150 shares for a quorum to vote on any policy issues. Second, the present <br />agreement is written in such a fashion that any addition or deletion of members <br />from the Committee requires revision of the whole agreement. The proposed <br />amendment will eliminate that problem. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />None. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends Council approval for the City Manager to sign the amendment of <br />ratification of said agreement. <br />The amendment to the agreement is on file in the City Clerk's office for your <br />review. <br />Concurrence: c✓ ' <br />Mark Lewis, .City Manager <br />Attachments: <br />Page 1 of 1 Item No. /.244, <br />
