STRATTON, CHIEF OF POLICE <br />Date: <br />SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF EIGHT POLICE VEHICLES 3-9-92 <br />FROM SEIZURE FUNDS (BID AWARD TO MILLS FORD) <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Police Department is currently fielding eight vehicles with <br />excessive mileage. These vehicles are used for emergency response <br />and extensive investigations. In the next few months, the mileage on <br />these vehicles will be between 80,000 and 100,000 miles. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Recently Mills Ford Dealership received the San Bernardino County bid <br />for 1992 Ford police sedans. The bid price is $12,768.45 per car for <br />marked vehicles and $12,255.45 for unmarked vehicles. This price is <br />lower than the California Highway Patrol bid awarded to Downtown Ford <br />at $13,373.00 per car and the Los Angeles County bid awarded to Sopp <br />Chevrolet at $13,104.00 per car. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There will be no cost to the City's General Fund. These vehicles <br />will be paid for by asset seizure funds. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It is the Police Department's recommendation that Mills Ford be <br />awarded the bid for eight Ford police sedans for a total cost of <br />$107,300.25. <br />Report prepared by B.
