Gabriel, Acting City Manager flw� <br />Date: August 18, 1994 <br />Subject: CONSIDERATION AND APPROVAL OF AWARD OF BID FOR <br />DEMOLITION/GRADING AND SWIMMING POOL/CHAIN LINK FENCING FOR <br />COMMUNITY CENTER <br />Background <br />At the direction of City Council, staff advertised for construction proposals for the Community <br />Center July 1 and July 8, 1994. Mary Milroy, City of Colton purchasing agent, opened bids <br />July 26, 1994. <br />Discussion <br />Two bids were received for demolition/grading work; the apparent responsible low bidder was <br />Southern California Grading, Inc. Three bids were received for Swimming Pool/Chain Link <br />Fencing; the apparent responsible low bidder was California Commercial Pools, Inc. <br />Financial Impact <br />The contract bid price from Southern California Grading, Inc. for the demolition/grading is <br />$123,268. The contract bid price from California Commercial Pools, Inc. for the swimming <br />Pool/chain link fencing is $421,000. The total cost for these two aspects of the constructio <br />process is $544,268. <br />Recommendation <br />Based upon analysis of the acceptable bids, staff and the contract manager recommend <br />contract approval to Southern California Grading, Inc. for demolition/grading work and to <br />California Commercial Pools, Inc. for swimming pool/chain link fencing work related to the <br />construction of the Community Center. <br />Report prepared by: John L.
