CITY OF COLTON o
AGENDA REPORT 1857
d Ifo"°
For Council Meeting of February 1, 1994
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: January 25, 1994
FROM: ANDREA DAROCA
Interim Finance Director
SUBJECT: Reject Bid for Demolition of Property at 849 East "E" St. and Award Bid for Demolition of
Property at 704 East "H" St. to Warren Duncan Contracting in the Amount of $5,500.00.
BACKGROUND: The Community Development Department submitted a requirement for the demolition of
two properties in the City of Colton. One was 849 East "C" St. and one was 704 East "H" St. Advertisement
for Bids was on December 18, 1993 and bid opening was held at 2:30 P.M., January 3, 1994 in the General
Services office. There were only two bids received on this requirement and a Bid Analysis is attached showing
bid amounts and completion time.
DISCUSSION: When the bid packages were prepared, a typographical error was made changing 849 East "C"
St. to 849 East "E" St. The error was noticed when confirmation of properties to be demolished took place
between General Services and Community Development. We do have a good bid on the property at 704 East
H Street and would like to proceed with the demolition of that property. It is anticipated that demolition of
4:
8 9 East C St. will not exceed $10,000.00 so formal bidding procedures will not be required and there will
be no delay in demolishing this property.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no adverse fiscal impact on this requirement.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that bid on 849 East "E" St. be rejected and bid award be made
to Warren Duncan Contracting in the amount of $5,500.00 for the demolition of the property at 704 East "H"
Street, Colton, California.
Report prepared by Kenneth L. Peterson, General Services Manager
City Manager concurrence
Attachments: (l) Bid Analysis
Pagel of l
Item No. 6
