CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of June 7, 1994
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Recreation and Human Services Department
SUBJECT: APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS FOR THE DAUER PARK LIGHTING PROJECT Date: 5-26-94
BACKGROUND
At the request of District 6 Recreation and Human Services Commissioner Buffington,
the Electric Department designed a site lighting plan for Rich Dauer Park. The design
is consistent with the lighting at Municipal Park and will include the installation of steel
poles, metal helide lamps and fixtures. The plans were approved by the Parks and
Recreation Commission on January 19, 1994.
DISCUSSION
At the March 1, 1994 meeting, the City Council approved the appropriation of $6,000
for this project. Subsequently staff discovered that the cost estimate submitted by the
Electric Department was too low. Specifically the fixtures and poles were $660.00
higher than the initial estimate and the contractor's cost for trenching is two to three
times higher than the initial estimate. The steel poles and fixtures have been ordered
and received by the Electric Department. In order to complete the installation of two
lighting fixtures at Dauer park, staff will need an additional $3,200 appropriated into
the Dauer Park account # 57-9153-89 from the Park Development 48 -Fund.
FISCAL IMPACT
$3,200 to the Parks Development Fund: As Council is aware, this is a restricted fund,
and may only be used for parks projects. There is no impact to the General Fund.
RECOMMENDATION
Mayor and Council approve the appropriation of $3,200 from the "Parks Development
48 -Fund" to the project expenditure account #57-9153-89.
City Manager's concurrence Akz
Attachments: none
Page 1 of 1 Item No. in
