CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of June 21, 1994
TO: Honorable Mayor, City Council, and City Manager
FROM: Thomas K. Clarke, Assistant Electric Utility Director Date: 6/14/94
SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION APPROVING STAFF RECOMMENDED
NAMING OF THE NEW ELECTRIC SUBSTATION
BACKGROUND
The Electric Utility is presently in the planning and design phase of a new substation to be
constructed on the west side of the city. This project is being done to reliably serve the proposed
county hospital facility and to provide enhanced electrical service to the entire service territory.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
To date the new substation has no formal name. In all of the planning documents it is merely
referred to as the "West Sub". However, this was never intended to become the permanent name of
the facility. It is within the purview of the City Council to officially name public facilities located
in the City. It would be the recommendation of the Electric Utility that the Council designate this
facility as the "brews Substation" in recognition of the many years of dedicated service of Gale
Drews to the City of Colton and its citizens.
ALTERNATIVES
The City Council may approve the Resolution adopting the naming of the new substation or select
an alternative name which they feel more appropriate.
FINANCIAL IMPACTS - There are no financial impacts as a result of this action.
ENVIRONMENTAL - There are no environmental impacts as a result of this action.
Page 1 of 2 Item No. 21
