CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />1887 <br />10 1 f o't"� <br />For Council Meeting of November 159 1994 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: November 9, 1994 <br />FROM: PAULA CHAMBERLAIN <br />Finance Director <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Transformers for the New Transmission Line to Pauwels Transformers Inc. <br />in the Amount of $1,043,296.00 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Electric Department is in the process of purchasing materials to construct a new transmission line. They <br />have a requirement to purchase two transformers for this project. On September 28 & October 5 , 19949 <br />General Services advertised for bids for this requirement. Bid opening was held at 10:00 a.m., November 1, <br />1994, in the City Council Chambers. Nine bids were received and evaluated by the City's Principal Electrical <br />Engineer and our consultant from the firm of Black & Veatch. <br />A Bid Analysis is attached showing the prices quoted by each vendor and the evaluated cost. The evaluated <br />cost is determined by use of a formula that calculates the cost of the transformer over its useful life time, using <br />a combination of load calculations supplied by the transformer manufacturer and unit prices supplied by the <br />vendor. The recommended vendor's price is underlined. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />This project is being funded by bond sale revenue. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends bid award to Pauwels Transformers in the amount of $1,043,296.00. <br />Report Prepared by: Mary J.
