orPora,e
CITY OF COLTON 1887
40 j f oto
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of October 4, 1994
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: September 27, 1994
FROM: JOHN HUTTON
Public Works Director
SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO PROCEED WITH FUND REALLOCATION OF C.D.B.G. FUNDS
TO CONGRESS STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AND REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO
PROCEED TO BID UPON C.D.B.G. APPROVAL
BACKGROUND:
The City of Colton receives allocations of Annual C.D.B.G. Funds for projects
in targeted areas.
Recently one of the projects was completed with a substantial savings of
approximately $50,000 (attached exhibit report shows exact amount).
Another area allocated funds from C.D.B.G. is the Congress Street area
improvement project, of which did not receive a funding allocation in an
amount necessary to accomplish the total project.
DISCUSSION:
Staff would suggest that it is appropriate to reallocate, by official request
to C.D.B.G., the amount saved on the Bordwell area paving project to the
Congress Street area paving project to have the funding source necessary to
accomplish the entire project as proposed.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff would recommend that Council direct the C.D.B.G. liaison staff to
request the savings from the Bordwell area paving project be transferred to
the Congress Street Improvement Project in order to proceed to bid.
In order to save time staff would additionally recommend that authorization
to proceed to bid be given based upon receiving C.D.B.G. approval of fund
reallocation.
