R-123-08 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, <br />CALIFORNIA APPROVING AND ADOPTING, UNDER THE PROVISIONS <br />OF THE POLITICAL REFORM ACT OF 1974, AN AMENDMENT TO THE <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST CODE BY AMENDING APENDICES "A" AND <br />"B" OF THE RESOLUTION NO. R-18-88 AND BY REPEALING <br />RESOLUTION NO. R-111-06. <br />Whereas, the Legislature of the States of California has enacted the Political Reform <br />Act of 1974, Government Code Section 81000 et seg. (the Act), which contains provisions <br />related to conflicts of interest with potentially affect all officers, employees and consultants of <br />the Conflict of Interest Code; and <br />Whereas, the City Council for the City of Colton did adopt and promulgate a Conflict <br />of Interest Code, approved by Resolutions Nos. 3619, 3623, 3619, R-18-88, R-122-92, R- <br />121-94, R-22-98, R-18-99, R-07-01, R-126-02 and R-146-04 with the most recent <br />amendment to the Conflict of Interest Code adopted on August 1, 2006, in compliance with <br />Government Code Section 81000 et seg.; and, <br />Whereas, the City of Colton did incorporate Regulation 18730 within its Conflict of <br />Interest Code by adopting Resolution No. R-1 8-99; and <br />Whereas, subsequent amendments to and changes in the political Reform Act of <br />1974 and the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission, as well as changed <br />circumstances within the City, have made it advisable and necessary pursuant to Sections <br />87306 and 87307 of the Act to amend and update the City's Conflict of Interest Code; and <br />Whereas, the polential penalties for violation of the provisions of the Act are <br />substantial and may include criminal and civil liability, as well as equitable relief; and, <br />Whereas, the proposed amendment to the Conflict of Interest Code was provided to <br />each designated employee; and <br />I <br />
