R-92-08 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON IN SUPPORT THE <br />SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY HOMELESS PARTNERSHIP TO END HOMELESSNESS. <br />WHEREAS, according to the 2007 Point in Time Count and Survey, the County of San <br />Bernardino has experienced a 39% increase in homelessness over the past four years which <br />included a total of 7,331 men, women, and children, throughout the County of San <br />Bernardino, who are homeless; and <br />WHEREAS, in September 2007, as a result of this increase, the County of San <br />Bernardino Board of Supervisors authorized the creation of the San Bernardino County <br />Homeless Partnership; and <br />WHEREAS, the principle mission of the San Bernardino County Homeless Partnership <br />is to provide leadership in a comprehensive countywide network of well-planned, coordinated <br />and evaluated services that are accessible to all who are homeless or at risk of becoming <br />homeless; and <br />WHEREAS, this countywide partnership of public and private agencies will coordinate <br />services and resources focused on ending homelessness within the County of San <br />Bernardino; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton acknowledges that many Inland Empire cities represent <br />an alarming rate of homeless individuals and homelessness continues to become more <br />prevalent as a societal problem throughout the County of San Bernardino and beyond; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton supports the County of San Bernardino's principle <br />mission for providing a well-planned system of caring for the homeless or for those at risk of <br />becoming homeless. <br />Resolution No R-92-08 - 1 - Council Meeting, August 19, 2008 <br />
