R -30A-17 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON AUTHORIZING THE USE OF STORMWATER FUNDS FOR CITY-WIDE TREE TRIMMING TO PREVENT SOIL EROSION INTO STORM DRAINS AND TO AMEND THE FISCAL YEAR 2016/17 STORMWATER BUDGET TO APPROPRIATE AN ADDITIONAL $35,000 FOR TREE TRIMMING AND REMOVAL SERVICES WHEREAS; the City of Colton is a general law city, duly organized and existing under the laws of the State of California and situated in the County of San Bernardino; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton has jurisdiction over the implementation of programs for maintaining storm drains in the City; and, WHEREAS, debris from trees, such as fallen tree limbs and leaves, may increase the impacts of soil erosion by blocking the storm drain system; and, WHEREAS, removal of dead or diseased trees, along with maintenance tree trimming can reduce blockages of the storm drain system; and, WHEREAS, funds are available in the Stormwater unappropriated reserves; and, WHEREAS, the budget for fiscal year 2016-17 has been approved by City Council, and must now be amended to increase the appropriation in the Stormwater Fund by $35,000 for tree trimming and removal services necessary to prevent soil erosion into the City's storm drains. NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The City Council finds it is appropriate to use Stormwater funds for the purpose of tree trimming and tree removal to prevent soil erosion and blocking of the City's storm drain system. Section 2. The City Council hereby amends the Fiscal Year 2016/17 budget appropriation as follows:
