R -30A-17 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />AUTHORIZING THE USE OF STORMWATER FUNDS FOR CITY-WIDE <br />TREE TRIMMING TO PREVENT SOIL EROSION INTO STORM DRAINS <br />AND TO AMEND THE FISCAL YEAR 2016/17 STORMWATER BUDGET <br />TO APPROPRIATE AN ADDITIONAL $35,000 FOR TREE TRIMMING <br />AND REMOVAL SERVICES <br />WHEREAS; the City of Colton is a general law city, duly organized and existing <br />under the laws of the State of California and situated in the County of San Bernardino; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton has jurisdiction over the <br />implementation of programs for maintaining storm drains in the City; and, <br />WHEREAS, debris from trees, such as fallen tree limbs and leaves, may increase the <br />impacts of soil erosion by blocking the storm drain system; and, <br />WHEREAS, removal of dead or diseased trees, along with maintenance tree trimming <br />can reduce blockages of the storm drain system; and, <br />WHEREAS, funds are available in the Stormwater unappropriated reserves; and, <br />WHEREAS, the budget for fiscal year 2016-17 has been approved by City Council, <br />and must now be amended to increase the appropriation in the Stormwater Fund by $35,000 <br />for tree trimming and removal services necessary to prevent soil erosion into the City's storm <br />drains. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1: The City Council finds it is appropriate to use Stormwater funds for the <br />purpose of tree trimming and tree removal to prevent soil erosion and blocking of the <br />City's storm drain system. <br />Section 2. The City Council hereby amends the Fiscal Year 2016/17 budget <br />appropriation as follows: <br />
