R-69-17 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />AUTHORIZING THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COMMUNITY SERVICES <br />DEPARTMENT AND THE SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY SUPERINETENDENT <br />OF SCHOOLS FOR THE AB 212 EDUCATIONAL STIPEND PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, the AB 212 Educational Stipend Program is an incentive program <br />designed to encourage teachers working in state -funded child development programs to pursue <br />training and education, and to remain in the field of early childhood education; and <br />WHEREAS, the program is funded through the Budget Act of 2000-01, Assembly <br />Bill 212, which provided funding for agencies that offer care and development services; and <br />WHEREAS, the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools provides <br />stipends to those who work for Agencies that are direct contractors with the California <br />Department of Education (CDE) through a single annual payment directly to the City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Colton does hereby resolve <br />as follows: <br />Section 1: The staff report accompanying this resolution is found to be true, adopted <br />as findings, and incorporated into this resolution. <br />Section 2: City Council approves pass-through educational stipends to qualified <br />childcare professionals is contingent upon satisfying the minimum qualifications of eligible <br />teachers in accordance with the program. <br />Section 3: Funds designated for the AB 212 Educational Stipend Program, funded <br />through the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, will be receipted and paid from <br />account number 762-2360-000. <br />
