R-78-17 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON APPROVING THE 2017-18 CHAMBER OF <br />COMMERCE CONTRATUAL SERVICES AGREEMENT; <br />AND, AMEND THE FISCAL YEAR 2017-18 BUDGET TO <br />APPROPRIATE FUNDS ASSOCIATED WITH THE <br />AGREEMENT <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton wishes to engage the services of the Colton Chamber of <br />Commerce by entering into a Contractual Services Agreement ("Agreement"); and <br />WHEREAS, since approximately 2005, the compensation under the Agreement has been <br />$25,000; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chamber has requested an increase in compensation based on inflation, <br />the increase in the cost of doing business and to be more proactive in the City's economic <br />business activities; and <br />WHEREAS, the Inflation Calculator using the Consumer Price Index published by the <br />U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has identified and warrants an increase in compensation for <br />services performed by the Chamber under the Agreement; and <br />WHEREAS, on June 6, 2017, $25,000 was approved by the City Council and <br />appropriated in the City's Economic Development Fiscal Year 2017-18 Budget, account number <br />100-6020-9050-2350-0000-000; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to increase the Agreement by providing an <br />additional $10,000 based on the Inflation Calculator and the increase in the cost of doing <br />business; and <br />WHEREAS, an expenditure increase in the Fiscal Year 2017-18 budget is required and <br />must be approved by resolution of the City Council. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF COLTON: <br />SECTION 1. RECITALS. The City Council does hereby find and affirm the above - <br />noted recitals are true and correct and hereby incorporated in the body of this Resolution as if <br />restated in full. <br />SECTION 2. APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT. The City Council hereby approves the <br />Agreement pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth in the Agreement. The City Council <br />hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager (with the concurrence of the City Attorney) to <br />execute and deliver on behalf of the City the Agreement and any documents and instruments as <br />may be necessary or convenient in the furtherance of the actions authorized by this Resolution. <br />-1- <br />
