I <br />RESOLUTION NO. R-39-15 <br />2 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, <br />3 CALIFORNIA IN RECOGNITION AND SUPPORT OF THE VETERANS WALL OF <br />4 FREEDOM AS A PERPETUAL REMINDER OF THE SACRIFICES MADE BY <br />VETERANS IN SERVICES OF THEIR COUNTRY. <br />5 <br />6 WHEREAS, today, we enjoy many freedoms in this great Country that were paid for <br />7 <br />by the service and sacrifice of the Veterans of our military services; and <br />8 <br />9 WHEREAS, these Veterans were men and women, of all religions and of all races, <br />10 who answered the call of duty to serve our Country, both within the United States and <br />I I overseas, protecting freedom in peace and defending freedom in war; and <br />12 WHEREAS, in the City of Colton, there are an estimated 1,750 Veterans and over <br />13 <br />4,400 family members of Veterans; and <br />14 <br />WHEREAS, it is appropriate to establish a VETERANS WALL OF FREEDOM where <br />15 <br />16 Veterans, family members, loved ones and fellow citizens can gather to reflect and pay <br />17 homage to America's Veterans who answered the call of duty and so unselfishly made the <br />18 sacrifice for our freedom; and <br />19 WHEREAS, the VETERANS WALL OF FREEDOM will be built in Grand Terrace, <br />20 <br />California, as a distinctive monument to permanently honor the spirit, service and sacrifice of <br />21 <br />22 all Veterans who have kept our nation strong for over 230 years; and <br />23 WHEREAS, the VETERANS WALL OF FREEDOM will serve as a daily reminder that this <br />24 Country owes a debt of gratitude to its Veterans for their extraordinary service; and, <br />25 WHEREAS, the VETERANS WALL OF FREEDOM will be an inspiration for future <br />26 <br />generations, deepening their appreciation of the accomplishments and dedication of these men <br />27 <br />28 and women who served in our Nation's armed forces in defense of our distinctly American <br />values of liberty, peace and freedom. <br />
