R-66-11 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, <br />AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FOR THE SAFE <br />ROUTES TO SCHOOLS GRANT PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, the Safe Route to Schools (SRTS) Program provides funds for <br />safety improvements near schools to encourage students to walk or bike to school; <br />WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) solicits <br />Safe Routes to Schools Grant Program projects from local agencies on an annual basis; <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton is dedicated to improving <br />the street infrastructure. <br />BE IT NOW <br />RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br />WHEREAS 1 The City Council hereby authorizes the submittal of Safe Routes <br />to Schools Grant Program application for the Cycle 3 SRTS Program for sidewalk <br />improvements around Alice Birney Elementary School. <br />WHEREAS 2 This Resolution shall become effective upon its adoption. <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND <br />ATTEST: <br />EILEEN C.
