PROJECT NO. 07-01-05132: CONSTRUCTION OF <br />INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS TO SERVE THE COOLEY <br />RANCHAREA <br />DATE: APRIL 18, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The E.D.A. Project No. 07-01-05132: Construction of Infrastructure Improvements to Serve the <br />Cooley Ranch Area consists of new storm drain pipelines, a 10" water distribution main, electric <br />conduits and street lighting, as well as the rehabilitation of existing street sections. New curb & <br />gutter, sidewalks, handicap access, landscaping and irrigation will be constructed in the Cooley <br />Ranch area, including, but not limited to the area directly adjacent to the new Ashley Furniture <br />development on Cooley Drive. <br />The Plans, Contract Documents and Specifications prepared by W. J. McKeever, Inc., have been <br />reviewed by staff for City of Colton standard requirements and a legal review has been performed <br />by the City Attorney. The project has also been reviewed for compliance with federal requirements <br />and approved. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />This is a fairly large project involving many different types of work; the public bidding process <br />is scheduled to begin May 10, 2002, and will continue until June 17, 2002, when the Bids will <br />be opened. The Award of Contract is scheduled for presentation at the City Council Meeting of <br />July 2, 2002, and construction is anticipated to begin August 1, 2002 (see attachment "A"). <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />On July 17, 2000, an Environmental Assessment that discusses the construction of that portion of <br />the street improvements involving construction of new streets was submitted to the Community <br />
