CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of May 3, 1994 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Robert A. Lavin, Water Utilities Manager <br />SUBJECT: Date: <br />Permission to Advertise for Open Bids for the <br />Piping and Electrical Equipment for the Katz Well <br />an e <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The FY93-94 budget included funds for the drilling of Well #24 and the <br />rehabilitation of Katz Well along with the piping and electrical equipment required <br />for each Well. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Staff has reviewed the expenditure and revenue report for the period ending March <br />31, 1994 for the Water Utility accounts. The revenues received were in the <br />amount of $2,867,571 and the expenditures were in the amount of $2,128,583 <br />leaving a surplus of $738,988. The piping and electrical equipment for the two <br />Wells is not expected to exceed $460,000. <br />The State of California Office of Drinking Water has granted the City an amended <br />domestic water supply permit with the following provisions: <br />1. The system shall have 17,800 gpm of reliable source capacity. <br />2. The City shall not serve more than 9100 service connections <br />(including active and inactive) until additional source capacity <br />is developed. <br />The addition of these two Wells will meet the above State requirements. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Sufficient funds are available for the two projects. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the advertising for the piping and electrical <br />equipment for the Katz Well and Well #24. <br />Attachments: <br />LJ/I j <br />Page 1 of--- — Item No. <br />
