CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For City Council Meeting of August 1, 2000 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR PRO TEM AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />APPROVAL: Henry T. Garcia, City Manager <br />FROM: Patrick G. Crowe, Chief of Policet�- <br />SUBJECT: Request for recruitment and ratification of employee appointments to the full time <br />position of Police Lieutenant in the Police Department <br />DATE: July 10, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND: There will be two (2) vacant Police Lieutenant positions in the Police Department <br />by the end of 2000. Attached is the job description for the classification: salary range is $4,920 to <br />$5,980.00 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Recruitment for said position(s) will be conducted and an eligibility list <br />established upon Council approval. The candidate(s) chosen will meet the education and experience <br />requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding is available in the general fund for fiscal year 2000/2001 budget. <br />Account No. 100-6070-6073-1010 (salary) and Account No. 100-6070-6073-1100 (salary related <br />and 100-6070-6072-101 nd 100-6070-6072-1100. <br />atrick G. Crowe, Chief of Police <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None. <br />MI55I01V-CKITICATT Two Police Lieutenant positions will be vacated this year due to service <br />retirements. The Police Department must recruit, test and train those individuals so the transition to <br />those positions will have the least impact on the department. <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: Upon the retirement of the Patrol Lieutenant and Detective Lieutenant. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council approve the recruitment and <br />ratification of the employee appointments to the full-time position of Police Lieutenant as <br />recommended by the Police Chief. <br />Attachment: Job description. <br />Prepared by: B.
